WATI vs 360Dialog vs Twilio: Best WhatsApp API Provider

I get asked about the WATI WhatsApp API more than almost any other tool question. Every small business owner building a bot or automating support eventually hits the same wall: WhatsApp does not let you just plug in. You need a Business Solution Provider, and the three names that keep coming up are WATI, 360Dialog, and Twilio. I have built on all three. They are not interchangeable, and picking the wrong one costs you weeks of rework.

WATI WhatsApp API: best if you want a product, not infrastructure

WATI is built for teams who want a working inbox, broadcast tool, and chatbot builder without writing much code. If you are a shop owner or a service business and you just need to send order updates and answer customers, WATI gets you live in a day. The tradeoff is flexibility. Once you want custom logic, like routing a message to a specific automation based on order status, you are working around WATI's interface rather than inside your own code.

360Dialog: the API without the app

360Dialog is a pure Business Solution Provider. No inbox, no dashboard beyond basics. You get raw access to the WhatsApp Cloud API and you build everything else yourself or bolt on a separate tool. This is the right call if you already have a CRM or a custom backend and just need the WhatsApp pipe. It is cheaper at scale but it assumes you or someone you hire can build the missing pieces.

Twilio: reliable, expensive, and built for developers

Twilio treats WhatsApp as one more channel next to SMS and voice. If your business already runs on Twilio for other messaging, adding WhatsApp is a small lift. If WhatsApp is your only channel, Twilio's per message pricing and general purpose API design usually cost more than a WhatsApp specific provider for the same volume.

What I actually recommend

At Esipick we have built client automations on all three, and the deciding factor is almost never features. It is who owns the logic. When a client wants full control over conversation flow and future automation, we push toward 360Dialog and build the layer on top ourselves. When a client wants to be self sufficient without hiring a developer for every change, WATI wins even though it is less flexible. We learned this the hard way on an early project where we built a client into Twilio because it looked cheap on paper, then spent extra hours writing infrastructure that WATI would have given us for free.

None of these three is universally best. The real question is whether you want a tool you operate yourself or a pipe you build on top of. Answer that first and the provider choice gets easy.
